This semester we embarked on a series of trips and tours to network and expand our architectural experiences outside of Chicago! For our Detroit Trip we met with the AIAS chapters at Lawrence Tech and the University for Detroit Mercy, and got to explore Mies’ Lafayette Park and the Henry Ford Museum. During our Midwest Road Trip we traveled to Moline, Il to see the world’s first corten steel building: John Deere Headquarters, designed by Eero Saarinen and to Davenport, IA to visit the Figge Art Museum, designed by David Chipperfield. We also traveled to Spring Green, WI to tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin East. Then over winter break, a group of 24 students traveled to Nashville, TN for AIAS’ annual conference, AIAS FORUM. This year the University of Tennessee hosted students from around the country and the world in Music City to create a sound that will REVERBerate throughout the nation.
