The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is an independent, 501c3 non-profit and student-run organization that is more than just a club. This grassroots association is a cooperative between thousands of students in North America (of all ages and academic degrees) committed to helping each other. It provides a sense of community which is used to share and create new ideas. The AIAS is also a professional organization that is the official voice of architecture students.
Mission of the AIAS
-To promote excellence in architecture education, training, and practice.
- To foster an appreciation of architecture and related disciplines.
- To enrich communities in a spirit of collaboration.
- To organize students and combine their efforts to advance the art and science of architecture.
Mission of the iitAIAS Chapter
- To create a sense of community among architecture students at IIT and across the nation.
- To provide more avenues for students to enjoy architecture out of Crown Hall.
- Advocate Studio Culture: the balance between the studio and “real life.”
Chapter Bylaws
- The bylaws are a set of documents in which the governance of the chapter takes place. Highlighting important functional aspects they provide a platform and structure. Any changes made are voted upon by the entire membership yearly during elections or during special circumstances as the Executive Board sees fit. To view the most up-to-date version click here.
